This church is a Baptist church by conviction. We believe in the fundamental teachings on which Baptists have historically stood. As Baptists, we believe the Bible is our ONLY authority for all matters of faith and practice. The church should be autonomous, or self-governing. The believer does not need a priest or any other mediator besides Jesus Christ, to come before God.
Every Christian has equal and personal access to God. God’s Word gives us two ordinances for the church which are baptism, and the Lord’s Supper. Each person is individually responsible for their own decision to accept Christ as their Saviour and follow the Scripture’s teaching. The separation of state and church is Biblical. The believer is eternally secure and cannot lose their salvation. There are two church offices—Pastors and Deacons.
What Does It Mean to Be an Independent Baptist?
As an Independent Baptist church, we are not affiliated with any particular Baptist denomination or ruling body. Because of this we support missionaries of our own choosing, select our own leaders, and support institutions that believe as we believe. In short, our church answers to
Christ and governs itself by the Scriptures, rather than a denominational body.
Our Story
In November 2013, Olde Tyme Baptist Church of NE Calgary, under the guidance of Pastor Don Cline, started an in-home Bible Study on Thursday nights in SW Calgary to meet the needs of members who lived in the community. After a few short months, this Bible Study exceeded the capacity of the home’s basement we were meeting in. It had become clear there was a need for another church in south Calgary.
On October 20th, 2014 Pastor Don alongside 23 members signed the Charter for Harvest International Baptist Church.
Since then the church has grown and is now meeting in the Parkland Community Hall, at 505 Parkvalley RD SE, Calgary.
New Theme for 2024
This year we are to Contend, for the great and wonderful faith that was once delivered unto us! Jude is exhorting us to take a stand for the message of the Gospel! The Gospel is under attack from false teachers, from heresies, from all those who seek to undermine and erode the faith!
Let’s not be weary and bow down to the pressures of the world. But let’s strive, that we may hear our Lord say:
“well done, thou good and faithful servant“!
Our Ministries
Sunday School
Sunday School meets every Sunday at 10:00 AM. The services are filled with songs and Bible lessons to teach the foundational truths of the Bible.
Adult Ministry
This ministry meets every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM. This is a time of praise, worship and old fashion preaching from God’s Word
Wednesday Prayer Meeting and Bible Study
Every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM we meet for Bible Study and prayer with a focus on open discussion and answering questions. Every last Wednesday of each month it is a time dedicated to missions, and we read letters from missionaries and pray for their ministries.
Children's Ministry
All children are an heritage from the Lord. We believe the children’s ministry is more than just a place to send the kids while the adults worship. We want to assist parents in helping their children understand the Bible and to love the God who wrote it. Our children’s ministry is committed to developing and preparing all children to come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Discipleship
At Harvest International Baptist Church, we believe it is the responsibility of the church to teach its members the Word of God. Therefore, we will be offering a discipleship program to any and all who are looking to learn. This will be a one on one session set up between the Instructor and the disciple. Our People
Our church has classes for every age including nursery and our staff is dedicated to showing them the same love and kindness that Jesus Christ showed. They are also committed to presenting the Word of God in a clear, easy-to-understand manner.
Our worship services
We are glad to announce that we are still using the good old-fashioned Hymnals. We are proud to provide a traditional song service with good old-fashioned hymns such as “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Account was Settled Long Ago!”
